
Sophie Auger (1994, Québec) is an artist and designer in New York.
Her interdisciplinary and often collaborative practice explores the relationship between the body, media, and modes of image interpretation.
Through strategies of reverse engineering, speculative archaeology, and docu-fiction, she constructs layered narratives.
Her work has been presented at ELEKTRA (Montreal), Index Space (New York), Vox Populi (Philadelphia), and MUU Contemporary Art Center (Helsinki).
Spiral Engineering (Published by Quickbooks, 2024) is distributed in New York at Unnameable Books, 192 Books, and Draw Down Books.
As a lecturer, Sophie Auger has developed and taught experimental technology courses at Rutgers University, Parsons School of Design, University of Pennsylvania, School of Visual Arts, and Index Space.
She was a guest critic and speaker at Columbia GSAPP, Bard College, Pratt Institute, and Drew University. In 2024, she was the Design Director of The Brooklyn Rail, following a studio internship at 2x4 in 2023.
She regularly collaborates with artists on visual identity and editorial design projects.
